Project Manager/Estimator

The Sr. Estimator/Sr. Project Manager will manage preconstruction Estimating and Project Management in our Civil Public Works Division. The Estimator is responsible for the accurate preparation of estimates for jobs to be bid, including preparation and supervision of take offs and coordination and/or supervisions of other estimators and engineers. The Estimator shall have extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs and engineering and industry principles. The Estimator will then transition to a Project Manager to run the applicable project until near completion when they will start estimating again.

  • Review project plans, requirements, and specifications
  • Determine labor and equipment costs
  • Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing
  • Discuss and propose the most proper means and method
  • Review and understand all bid documents and assess project risks
  • Understand project logistics and project schedule
  • Prepare bid packages
  • Meet with Owners Pre-Award as Required
  • Manage Project After Successful Award
  • Compare and analyze competitive subcontractor and supplier bids
  • Review quotes and estimates with the Project Management Team
  • Perform pre-construction duties and meetings with clients, owners, suppliers
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Sufficient Experience
  • Previous experience in Heavy Civil Public Works, Underground, Earthworks Industry
  • Experience on Contract Side
  • 10+ years’ experience estimating heavy civil projects
  • Excellent proposal development, change order development skills/knowledge
  • Advanced computers skills
  • Extensive Knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles
  • Familiarity of all aspects of horizontal and infrastructure projects
  • Well organized, flexible, detail oriented, and multi-tasked
  • Prioritize work load and consistently meet deadlines while constantly changing tasks and demands
  • Ability to work with engineers and estimators and be part of a team
